Many people have rushed and bought one of the variants of these radios and on the side is the ability to make a remote PTT but seems many have not tried it yet? Below is one option available that can make the it easier to transmit

What is also interesting that in Germany as Pits Funkladen he makes a cable that allows the socket to connect to a 6 pin mike socket and thus allowing Echo and other mikes to be connected to the side of the headset so something different as an option. The cost is something like €30 for the cable from Germany so not cheap at all but opens up more mikes to be used.

Plus remember the side connections on the handset are wired Kenwood too

It seems like always with radios the microphones come under a lot of scrutiny. Is it better to use Astatic, Sadelta, Turner, Densei, Ham International and others. Now add to this a way to replace the ceramic element in your hand held minuteman and replace it with an easy install electret element. Below are the details.

The maker of the modification is W2ENY and I fitted the conversion previously to the MH31 hand mike from Yaesu and so had no reserves about doing the same with this mike

My sincere thanks to Eric for the following information about PMR Radios in Spain, and the mountain channel. The initiative was decided to use channel 7 CTCSS 7 for those in the mountains that take PMR Radios with them to communicate. It is a clear and sensible guide that services would monitor this frequency also

As mountain climbing is indeed very popular all over the EU I think the idea to form a initiative to promote safety and also to carry a radio is indeed an excellent idea. The people behind this can be complimented on this excellent idea.

Uniden PC-787 AM CB £64.50

Yesterday an article appeared and then vanished, so now it is back again and we also added on a little more information for those people thinking of getting one of these from Amazon or ebay. On what can be seen a great price add on the shipping, duties and taxes it is a little bit more than meets the eye.

A nice looking radio and indeed something that I guess can never come to these shores of EU legally. The radio sadly does not conform with CE and can also be non ROHS (not confirmed) I know from those writing to me via the blog that many radios come to the EU via Amazon or Global Shipping on ebay where a final import duty is charged. I had a look and the duty on one of these is around £26 to the UK and shipping £23 so takes it past the £100 mark and remember, if caught with it then it is not conforming.

I heard the other week of two drivers stopped with Uniden 980 in or around Birmingham, and indeed the radios were confiscated. If you need a radio, silver and looks like the one above then guess we need wait and see if they come to the EU legally one day. Remember, no spares, no warranty and trouble with OFCOM if caught. So if out and about using these, be careful, don’t show them on videos. As some authorities around the EU are not sleeping and seem to be still looking.

The pirate in me says why not, got others in this series via Amazon. But this time I think best to sit and wait. PLUS a nice working AE6110 with FM/AM and super small for £50 is less trouble than this could be. But still looks much classier than a Midland M Zero

Anytone AT-5555n Mike Adapter

A few people have asked about a mike adapter to convert the RJ45 to 6 pin or 4 pin socket that can allow different mikes to be fitted to the AT-5555n which comes stock with RJ45 mike, it is the same that they use in the Teams, CRT, Albrecht and others. Well there is a solution for this, and you need to order it from Poland

First of all there was the Harry followed by the Harry II and then when they were deleted many people in many countries was dismayed as the radio was always a cult one in some areas. Then along came the Henry to fill the void, now there is a new revised, dual voltage and new software Henry 12/24v coming in Q2 2015

Sometimes I am critical and say “No not another bloody AM/FM Radio, SSB legal and nothing new” But on this occasion am a little reserved as was a fan of the Harry II and the Henry works as well so am pleased to see it come to market with dual voltage. Sure a little late as most NEW trucks has dual voltage 12/24 but not all. So this radio I see as a good step. Nice to see a new, old friend come back face lifted.

After what seems a long period of no news I’ve decided to share what I have been working on the last weeks, what news has landed to me here via email and indeed some of the comments or things that people believe to be the truth and what is coming to the market in the near future. Lincoln v4, AM in UK mode and Team MX-10
Apollo 1, CRT One, CRT Mike, Albrecht AE6110, Team MiniCom…. AM In UK Mode

Many people complained bitterly to me via the blog about the Team Minicom, CRT One, CRT Mike, Apollo 1 and Albrecht AE6110 not having AM in the UK mode. So, after some emails with Mr Qixiang and Andy Z these new norms will be adopted in the next series of these radios as and when they come to the market place. So wait down the line for changes to happen but they will happen when these radios will be changed to V2 or otherwise. There will be in the menu you press and will go UK40, EU AM, EU FM Obviously time scale I don’t know as depends on orders etc. But changes will be made am told.

So big thanks to Qixiang via email and Skype for agreeing to make the changes

And of course with CB there are always smart arses. Those who profess to know all and indeed know bugger all. The Albrecht, Team Mini, CRT One do not permit high power in legal mode. Firmware don’t allow it. So no 8w FM in UK legal mode (most engineers in UK) It does not work.. Not matter your smartness it don’t work.

President Lincoln II v4

We’ve all seen the joke v4 on a blog with a coffee maker and such. That’s the nearest you are going to get to it. There are no plans for a new version, the last will be the last if information received is correct. I’m not 100% as received an email this week from Shrewsbury in the UK telling me that he is waiting for his new V4 radio to be delivered. If that is true then watch this space as was promised the photos and the news about it. And in last days there have been 73 searches for Lincoln II v4 using the blogs search feature.

Also the search function of the blog has had many hits for Uniden Lincoln II. Interesting what is searched for?

Also searched many times on blog search engine is Lincoln III. Come on, honestly. This don’t exist. It’s a dream, an illusion.

Team MX-10

The Nanfone produced radio that looks like the Luiton, Canva, Bond 318 and around 10 other names seems not to be available still. Sources told April but the month has come and gone and nothing has happened. Is this a loss to the CB World? I think not really.

Anything new in SSB land?

Nothing at all been mentioned to me, no news, no radios, no leaks and nothing at all. So easy part to write.

Competition

The comp is not forgot and will be drawn soon. Due to post taking an age, some from UK via airmail 9 days and Denmark 17 days and Poland 12 days we left the box open for letters till the end of April. And in the next days the result will be here announced.

Here is something for the export men amongst us. As we know the Smart from Anytone can make 4w on legal modes and when exported the radio can be unlocked for 10m operation and 8w power. Now look at the radio below

This is the Smart’s brother from another mother. This radio will make the same 4w in legal mode and when unlock the export mode it will power the radio to 20w FM and note this model will be FM only. No AM mode on this one. So the radio is on Viagra or something. Must get hot, but what a tool for in car when you need maybe FM only. Orders are taken from below:

Guys and Girls, request time. Gary & Jason of the Charlie Tango Xtreme team spent a long, wet and windy Bank Holiday night on the Mendip Hills to run an SSB net. They will be active the next bank holiday also which I think will be 24-25 May (TBC). You use SSB? Sporadic E or ground wave then for sure go and give them a call.

All events are advertised well in advance via twitter, the CT Forum so take a listen for Gary 26CTX104 and Jason 26CTX965 and make there time on the hills something special. For those who say the UK is dead for CB then note there are people going that extra mile to make things happen, give them a call.

Keep it up Gary and Jason, you should be so very proud indeed.

Anytone AT-6666 Goes V3

Information received is that the multi country popular radio the Anytone AT-6666 is now entering as a V3 version. The changes are nothing at all big, and quite easily you would not notice the difference between the V2 and the V3. This is just for information, that the radio can soon be seen with the V3 after it.

So there are no changes in the output and receive side, just some cosmetic changes internally that were asked for from a dealer.

I get requests each day for software, some can be done and some cannot. It is the nature of the beast. So as this is the most common request I have uploaded to a file service the software for the 5555n radio. As we all know this radio is a V6 radio and this software on the file should work with the radio with no troubles.

So finally the Nanfone produced version of the Delta 318 is out for sale on the market place as a Team. This one comes with 12/24v, ASQ and a host of the usual features. Plus NO AM mode in the UK EU setting just 4w FM. So, old style

Team don’t like me as I called some of the other radios they made junk, and indeed some of them were. The only way is Qixiang for them, with the mini CB they broke the system of selling crap (non quality radios and or not as good as people expected). Will I test one? Hard to say as no loan radios here and with shipping over €100 for a Nanfone radio, hm tricky but if do get one you will see it here and on YouTube. Interesting they call it the “new generation of CB radio”. Hard to be so with the other four or five radios the same? Luiton, Canva, PNI Escort, Delta.. New? No it’s sure isn’t.
