Dynacom CB-350 6% Discount

$

Here we are there seems to be yet another OEM kid on the block. This time it is a clone of the Yosan Micro and of the Megajet. Available now under the name of Dynacom sure it will be the same as the others which will allow export mode and 12w power. Nice to see another new radio, although it is indeed in fact a new name with an old friend on the inside.

Another new name on the block and this radio comes unlocked for 1.6-29.9MHz with SSB / AM / CW and the cost of this 100 watt radio is as low as $410 on some pages around the internet. Sold as a “marine radio” it seems that this is another radio that can find itself at home in a shack.

Yosan CB-250 “First Video”

This time we take a look at a radio that I was a little excited about and to the same way worried it was the same as the Lafayette Venus meaning yes would work well but there would be issues of nasal audio and some other niggles that were on the Venus. BUT I am the first to say I was wrong, it is not the case and although they look similar the truth is the way they behave is very different.

Multi EU Norms, CTCSS, DX & Local, Channel 9, ASQ, Scanning, Roger Bleep, AM, FM

All usual suspects are there. But what is the difference is the audio. The transmitted Yosan audio is far in a way better than with the others that look similar. Strong AM and I mean strong, FM is quieter without being flat on the audio. Receive is sharp, but the radio needs a manual. Mine did not come with one so a lot of guessing was used and also not always the way useful.  I think it is NEXTRON made in Korea, so has a pedigree and those who have seen the HOTCB pages will know what I mean. Also sold as a Megajet I believe in some market areas it actually did perform so much better than I thought. But now I will search a manual, get some better conditions and make another video which will show the radio and how it works.

Stabo XM5006e Released Soon

There is no surprise in the format of piggy backing one brand with another if you happen to own both. And as President owns the German company Stabo then it is little shock that the new 12/24v Johnson II will have by its side as with the last addition a cousin in the shape of the Stabo XM5006e which has the same features including 6 band multi norm and is indeed the same radio with a different name. Markus from Neuner released the information about this radio, so you see the man in the know does know. Below is the English and German language flyer from the radio:

bfda3af8a7

xm5006e_Flyer_DE_GB

All that is needed for this much loved German brand would be an SSB Radio. Many have asked about it and many believe it is needed. I am on the fence here as see no need for such a radio, why re-badge a Grant II or a Jackson II Classic with the name XM007e or XM777e as people would a) Moan about it b) not like it as not new. Smarter way is another Emperor Shogun based on the old Lincoln, new insides, brought up to date. You never change what is not broken.

Thanks to Markus for the news and the release of the radio….

As you see radios released till end of the year, just like all the other times. Not many makers are sleeping yet or have left for well earned holidays. Now we wait for the next new one….

It is Christmas time and President have not let this be by releasing there all new Johnson II12/24v radio onto the market. Last year the Grant II appeared on December 24th and this time a Johnson arrives. From the first few minutes seems more than just the same face has reappeared. The font looks different on the display, the way things are shown look different and the buttons have a better feel than they did on the last version (sat side by side)

Face Avant

So there we have it, more will come with the radio over the next days just am not home now so cannot do more at the moment. BUT check dealers like Nevada, Neuner, Radiozing as it is out there now so be one of the first and grab it while you can.

There was a time many years ago when the Wintec PMR was working as well as the T6222 Motorola for the DX Men who used them on 446MHz. Well now it seems they are back again with the LP-101e which for 55.90 euro seems to be good value and guess shares DNA from the past ones that were on the market.

At the blog there are always many people writing, many subjects and one of the main ones are repairs and spares. We have received recently an email from Nick who tells us that he has a repair business based in Kent and seems to be a on stop shop for repairs. So on the list Nick has sent are the following items:

untitled

All CB Radios including multi modes

Icom, Kenwood, Yeasu

Linear Amplifiers valve and solid state. Zetagi, RM and professional end linear amp UK.

I have not used the service so actually cannot comment how and what can be done by Nick. If you need to be in touch then use the email: np262@yahoo.com or call 07770 397668

So that is Kent covered, anybody else somewhere in the UK doing the dying art of “Rig Doctor” then drop us a line.

Team “Will Finally Release MX-10″ In 2015

Someone else releasing Christmas cheer and  news of something new coming along into 2015 is Team from Frankfurt in Germany. This story has been going around and around Asia for almost  a year now and seems the wait will be over for this re-badged Bond Telecom made radio. The story was very long that was leaked around the various companies but guess now all the Delta, Luiton, PNI, Nanfone and other radios have been released (with no serial numbers on them so early samples or prototypes) it is time that a real one and an EU seller get there hands on it.

Some of the ones without serial numbers had some issues. RESET them and channels vanished, ASQ stopped working, channel change stopped working. I know of one sold in Manchester in export mode and when was reset all was lost except EU channels. SO FINALLY A REAL ONE WILL COME TO MARKET….

TGKK_TGK_318_cb_radio_27mhz_jpg_140x140

But what do we know?

PC Programmable and Export Mode (with the other versions software was hard to get, hard to use trust me)

10w Power via the software

ASQ Auto Squelch

Multi EU Norms.

Not yet known are the costs and the time frame for delivery. Check http://www.team-electronic.de

President Grant II White Noise and V4 Lincoln II

$

0

Thanks to the multiple people who sent me the link to this video and also it in some ways I hope dispels a rumour or something that has been floating around. Let us start with the Lincoln II v4 myth. The Lincoln II v3 is the last version, cosmetic changes such as paint have been changed but there is no V4 and will not be any V4. That is old news, revisited at least 10 times a week by people emailing me.  The second one will also never go away. Emails with such sentences as “Simon, I’ve bought a shit Grant II as gets white noise” and no matter how I reply, show them videos that prove it is location based they don’t believe me.

GR2

So for the last time I mention it, then emails that are received will be deleted as cannot keep flogging the same horse all the time. It does appear that location and antenna makes a difference with the Grant II and Lincoln II. In the car there is zero and that is S0 noise for me on both radios, and at home S3 on the Lincoln II v3 and S2-4 on the Grant II. It is in the way it works, there is no broken one, no Friday PM one, it is in the DNA of the radio.

EXAMPLE: Check Jackson II videos on you tube. All have almost the same noise level, the s meter sits around S3 and this is the same almost as the Grant II which is UNIDEN and the Lincoln II which is QIXIANG

Above video is 315LR1 and shows he also has the noise level that many of us are having. So not unique to 1 man in 1 country at one time. All radios seem to have almost the same noise level. This with no NB switched on also.

So if you have a Grant II almost certainly you will have white noise.

Do you have a V3 Lincoln II then you have the latest version, the “v4 will have PC Programming” not true as there is not a v4. The v4 will “have 12m-10m like the Stryker” also not true and correct. The v3 is the last one you will get.

Paint change was confirmed via 1 EU Reseller and 1 in Asia Region

And the last quote from today: “I am waiting for the v4 Lincoln II as Uniden is making it” I asked where the news was from and was told “Everybody knows it, isn’t it obvious?”

And the answer is NO IT IS NOT OBVIOUS AND IS BS

Team Mini Com Multi EU

Another new radio coming soon from Team in Frankfurt shows that indeed Qixiang is in a hurry these days as almost the same radio will come as the CRT One, Anytone Micro and a number of other names. Cheap as chips for 59.90 euro and we know as it is a Qixiang under the skin is some goodies for the export and the higher power men out there. Super small and ready for all the new car owners out there:

320400_9089_0

All the usual suspects and even when it is new on the market there is NO AM on the UK40 allocation. Two ways to look at it? Long time in development or the radio will not sell enough pieces in UK where some people think a 1980 radio is a new one. Budget priced and should fly off the shelves. It has one weakness and that is the RJ45 Mike socket, but just order a mike adapter and that situation passes.

EU, D, UK, PL, EC, E

Also note the -HP

No real news if this is now a released or to be released in the New Year. But almost Christmas and still all the goodies are flying through the email. This radio was released to the wider world via http://www.neuner.de and Markus.

TEAMMINICOM

The manual is above for the radio.

Note the (H) on the screen in the manual, this has the same routine as the KPO500, AE6199HD and others from the AT300/310M chassis if you know what I mean ;-)

Can this be the last or one of the last radios of 2014? We know that CRT has the Mike and One, President has the 12/24v Johnson II, Team has the MX10 and Minicom, Stabo has the XM5006e so what is next? Can there be another shock going to happen like last year when on 24th December the Grant II photos leaked in Spain. I think not but we need wait and see what comes next.

2015/16 Anytone Apollo II

The season to be jolly continues without any breath being taken in the far east it seems. Thanks to Lao (from China I guess) who sent me a photo and the snippet of news from a new radio that comes 2015 (so he says) The time the company in question is Qixiang? Is there any other these days? And the radio seems to be the successor to there Apollo1 and will be called the Apollo2. As you can see a photo tells a million stories. Again we head down the RJ45 Route as sure this will help in keeping things simple and small, and also seems to be based on the AT300/310M chassis which has proved its quality over the time.

untitled

Otherwise no release date, no news of any resellers testing it at the moment, no price point. And you all know me, I like to say what is on my mind. I would bring something like this as a Emperor or KPO or Team, maybe another name we have not seen in a while. And why? Qixiang are at the top of there game now, whether love or hate them it is reality. They R&D and release stuff while others are sat thinking. Quick turn around means more bang for your $$. Plus as we see they can make new, old, clones, or recycle or reverse engineer something in a heartbeat.

I have been informed the radio is not new, and is from 2013 Page 14. But it is labelled in PDF Catalogue 2015. So it was new in 2013 and then again now it is new again in 2014 to be new again in 2015 I guess. Time will tell. Thanks to the Dutch OM who pointed it all out

Danita 310M Multi-Norm CB

$

On the back of the news that Qixiang never sleeps well there is more proof in the form of the Danita 310m which is sure a clone of the Team TS9M which is running the AT300/310M board with all the usual goodies of export channels and higher power on the inside. And the price 44.90 euro so it is really a nice priced budget radio. Seems there is really no end to the new radios at the moment.

9099_0

But check the norms, now you can see a little difference

UK 40 channels FM 27601-27991 and 40 channels FM 26965-27405

PL 40 channels FM/AM 26960-27400

EU 40 channels FM/AM 26965-27405

EC 40 channels FM 26965-27405

E 40 channels FM/AM 26965-27405

D 80 channels FM and 40 channels AM 1w

USA 40 channels AM 26965-27405

NZ 40 channels AM/FM 26330-26770

So, some interesting bands there and sure opens the option for rU from 25615 upwards

Midland 9001 / Emperor Shogun New Model Needed?

$
0
0

Here is the pre Christmas look at two radios that were one in the same. Being Made by Maxon and actually working real well indeed. In some market areas it was called the “Poor Man’s Lincoln” even when the cost was similar. Just yesterday one was sold on ebay for 240 euro, boxed but in used condition. We in the past looked at the “Uniden to made with SSB” and so decided to pick on another 3 radios to see if they could earn there place in the modern world of radio. And the second victim is the Alan 9001

alan9001images

So what do we know? 26000-29600 so covered all the usual suspects. With this in mind and now in 2014 soon 2015 it is sure possible to make it again covering 25610-30110 all mode, with or without PC Programming. The way software has changed in recent radios it is not worth it really. Easier is old school, no frills, no bullshit and less to go wrong.

Buttons almost leave as they are, maybe add SPLIT on the basis of when the button is pressed the displays flashes and allows via channel change to select the offset. So, have like a VFO B without having it. In basic principle:

Display shows 28.500 PRESS the Split and display flashes and shows 28.500 turn up or down channel to select for example 28.507 PRESS SPLIT and then it is set, a + on the display. Job done.

Power: Variable 1-30w FM, 1-12w AM and from 2-40w SSB (Almost what was like way back when)

Fix the frequency drift that the 9001 and Shogun had, saying that Lincoln 1 was the same, meaning display shows 420 and transmits 419.8 which has to be easy these days as components and manufacturing process has changed over the years. Leave the display as is, leave most of the controls as is, in effect tidy what was there as it was good then, and can be good again with a few tweaks and twinges here and there.

Maker: Do Maxon exist for Amateur and CB Radio now? So here is where controversy is based. Use the ideas that worked on the DR135DX, CRE8900 and change it. DIN SIZE so fits all, 12/24v so can be fitted into trucks and keep it as is. Replicate the radio without the errors. Make right what was wrong. Qixiang it needs to be. Cannot be anyone else in the frame. Uniden cannot be as did not make the 9001 or Shogun, Maxon are asleep or thinking mode? So leaves the quick turnaround team at Qixiang. And not any customer or indeed any reseller wants the junk that was the 8001s EURO to return. Bad radio at a bad time, more people swore about it than were pleased with it.

Audio: Old school, less processed sound like with the old radios. Original Lincoln, Jackson, Shogun, 9001 no need break what is working. Can make it 6 pin, works all the usual mikes that people want to use.

Can it happen? NO is the simple answer. I think there is no appetite for this to be done. People moan about the digital radios, they moan about the analogue and we all want something from the past to return. But if there was a radio that could return I think this would be one of the ones I could imagine happening.

Next time? Is there any need for a CRE 9000 to replace the 8900

So the first customers have the first tests now available. Myself mine is ordered from Markus from Neuner so expect my views soon. But Christmas is busy and will now not come till next year maybe so we will feature some news from Bensons Funk in Hamburg who have had the radio on the bench and also seen what makes the radio tick on the inside

geklautbeibenson

The original German text is:

Modulation AM laut, kräftig. klar
Modulation FM ebenso klar, etwas leiser , vergleichbar mit Team TS-9m, einwandfrei
Empfänger ebenso empfindlich wie TS-9m, gemessen 0,168µV/12dB, Phantastischer Wert
Mikrofon ist das gleiche wie von der HamCom 1011, mit Electret Kapsel.
Leistung AM und FM eingestellt bei 3,89W, Hub bei 1,9 kHz, Modulationsgrad an die 90%

Which equates to something like this:

Modulation AM loud and strong. clear
FM modulation as clear but a little quieter, comparable with team TS 9m, properly
Receiver as sensitive as TS-9m measured 0,168μV / 12dB, Fantastic value
Microphone is the same as of the HamCom 1011, with electret capsule.
Power AM and FM set at 3,89W, stroke at 1.9 kHz, modulation depth of 90%

IMG_4927

Direct Link: http://www.bensons-funktechnik.de/cb-funk/mobilfunk-cb/team-cb/team-minicom-cb-funkgeraet.html

From the start of time people moan about quieter audio on AM compared to FM and WE ALL KNOW WHY this is so no need waste space mentioning it. Me, cannot wait for mine to land as seems will be a keeper not a seller.

So one of the new family or RM amplifiers will be on test here in the next weeks. The all new KL505v (V-Ventilator) seems to be an amplifier which a few of my friends are using and super delighted with and indeed a few people now in India and Pakistan have these set ready for action, albeit not all for the CB Bands where of course this would be illegal

I tried it already with my Grant II and does not work so well. The low power does not drive the amp well. It needs a little more, but Lincoln II with the power knocked back watch those amps and S-Meters jump.

1-15w AM/FM makes around 300w maximum 2-30w SSB and a potential 600w

Amplifier draws around 35 amp here when really used in anger. More news later how it works with the Lincoln II. For the Grant II seems the KL203p works the best at the moment.
