Zetagi antenna now that is something not many would have thought of but here we are the Monza. 125 euro of nice stuff and can take 1kw constant with 3000w short term. It is a 11-10m antenna and 7metre long and comes with 4 radials each 2.70m in length.  5.6kg in weight and seems a beast of an antenna. Using one? Know someone who has one then drop us a line here with the information

Thanks to Aki who sent me the link via email to this video on you tube and indeed seems to be one of the first where the radio can be used and is actually doing more than a sort of shop demo. Seems to be available in Q2 in 2015 and indeed seem many are waiting for this all in one box radio to arrive:

Team Mobile MiniCom “Configuration Jumpers”

With the Team radio winging its way across the EU with DHL I have been able to check out the photo of the radio from (c) Markus Neuner at http://www.neuner.de and have come up with what can be the export ways to expand the radio. As we know there are 3 export modes at the moment or configurations different to those it is sold under. Those ending in ZERO (0) and those ending in FIVE (5) and lastly the radio can be locked for 10 metre band, so from 28000-29600 working with AM/FM. So after checking the board and also checking the parameters of the radio it is in the photo below where to look at for the config jumpers. It is also possible to lock it single band EU or EC within a similar area of the board for those that want to look:

320400_9089_3

It is located on the programming side of the CPU, it in ways copies the same idea as the Apollo1 and also has a similar idea to that of the 5555N so with all these things added together this is where the export mode is.

ALSO note front of board the blank J3 where in some radio programming is available. Maybe comes in 2015 with some different ideas or programming too?

High Power Mode signified with the (H) on the screen is easily achieved also, in the photo it shows how. Also to change the RJ45 to 6 pin socket the pin outs are also easy for those wishing to make a mike adapter for the radio.

Maas is Back. CRT January 2015

After some time where it has to be said the selection from Maas was poor since the demise of the Colonia and DX5000 they are back punching with the new CRT Mike & One available NOW for pre order for stocks arriving in January 2015. Weighing in at 100 euro just about this is another of the radios that will fly from the shelves if you believe the people on the air. Add to this the CRT One which seems to be flying off the shelves in the name of the Team MiniCom for 59.90e

crt mike ce3

Link to Maas:http://maas-elektronik.com/CRT-MIKE-CB-Mobilfunkgeraet.2.html

So with these radios has Maas turned a corner and will release the other goodies that seem to be on the horizon from CRT Like the SW Reception hand held also slated down for arrival in January. So 2015 has started really with a good note for the CB people out there.

The Legend’s Comes to Germany

The times they are indeed a changing in the world of CB Radio. Again something for the new Christmas season is that the “Uniden”esque made radios called the M-Tech Legend have landed in EU firmly now and not via a grey order from Singapore or other places in the far east.

Congratulations to Funktechnik Bielefeld for becoming importer for Germany and the Benelux. Kudos to them…

There will be the usual 3 in the series available at the end of January 2015

9109_0

The Legend 1 74.95 euro: http://www.pmr-funkgeraete.de/Funkgeraete/CB-Funk/M-Tech-CB/M-Tech-Legend-1-CB-Multinorm-Funkgeraet::9109.html

And Finally:

The Legend III 129.00 euro: http://www.pmr-funkgeraete.de/Funkgeraete/CB-Funk/M-Tech-CB/M-Tech-Legend-2-CB-Multinorm-Funkgeraet::9110.html

So looking like the Teddy, the Harry II and the Thomas but without the things that President unique. What is happening? Is there now a new world order as the amount of radios that are coming to market now is quite staggering. BUT, is it what the people want? Or the types that people want? That is another matter.

And the instruction Manuals:

Power handling is 35w continuous and short time 100w, but if you need run 100w then sure you will invest in a larger antenna.

People have asked so if it is possible we will feature into 2015 scanners. Sure we have all listened to the Police back in the day and other services and so now in 2015 if and when something comes along we will have a look at scanners from Albrecht, Uniden, Alinco & others.

7665_0

Not been a scannerman for years now, most recent was via some amateur radio hand helds that have large coverage but now PC compatible, 25-1300MHz coverage and more. So as many are interested in this and there is budget to expensive when something comes along then why take a look at it.

The pictures here are 65 euro, 145 euro and 260 euro so just in these small pictures are something for all, whether simply listen to the planes or something more elaborate like CB, Amateur Radio and others.

2015 We will take a look.

Costing anything from $25-$50 per piece based on the size of your order it is available now from the Shenzen Anysecu Technology company. As we all know Stabo released to the world recently the XM4060e which being Uniden made caused a little bit of excitement in the world of the radio connoisseur and whether it was a simple copy and paste from another radio in the President line. Thanks to Markus and his excellent camera we can all now take a look inside the radio and see what is going on inside.

30042_8891_530042_8891_630042_8891_830042_8891_1

And indeed there are changes and differences within the radio. Note the resistors on the front of the board, white wire is differently placed and the jumper although the same idea is also different in the way and place it is located. Can be size issues and can be something new and improved under the hood (maybe) New Year I will have a look at one and let you know how it works after the Christmas season, and Markus has returned from his very well deserved holidays. But you can see it is well situated, tidy on the inside.

Albrecht AE6110 Christmas Appearance **UPDATED**

Well here is a radio that we discussed some months back and the chances that it would land soon in the EU and indeed Qixiang has been YET AGAIN BUSY with the release in the EU via Albrecht of the Tiny AE6110. Multi EU norms and all the usual suspects on the inside. Comes in 2015 so get those wallets ready.

B5jkDL4CQAAqwBj

Congratulations to CB Radio Netherlands and Thijs for the release of this new radio

And sincere thanks to Helmut for the information sheet below, it was incredibly kind to send it to me the night before Christmas

infoblatt6-1

Price Point of around 70 euro or so.

Note the rU band writing:

Umbaumöglichkeit für lizensierte Amateurfunker:

10 m Amateurfunkband, 400 Kanal-Modus:

25.610 – 30.105 MHz, 8 Watt

And what is sure needed now? Emperor to release a new and improved Shogun maybe via Qixiang as Maxon appears to be sound asleep the past months if not years. FAR TOO MANY AM & FM radios out there, we need, the market needs some new blood, some new SSB radios and in the near and not far future.

Whether you like it or not, Qixiang are the people to call upon now, unless Uniden are not busy….

Seems this little radio is raising the bar in Germany as all I have read about it has been excellent. BUT you know the score, we are all people of the world. The haters of new stuff think the best gear is from the 80s while those who hated the old stuff now have something new to hate in the same way. I have only used mine in a limited way, and it works real well. It is for me a keeper and not a seller and in the new year a new one will be ordered from Markus at Neuner and will be sat in the car, for when the need arises.

White Christmas, Silver President?

I thought I was hallucinating when opened my email this morning. Overnight arrived a photo of a silver President. It has been so many years nothing that I think someone plays with some software but I will post it here ad hoc as a looks nice photo:

Walker-ASC-Chrome

But imagine it? Those who don’t like black radios have a choice with Silver again? Old school style and guess that is why the name “Classic” so could be used in the future. Personal point of view? I started my CB Days on a silver President and own some of there silver fronted radios and they look real nice. Something different.

Don’t wait as cannot confirm it is more than a photo or a nice Christmas Fairy tale

Labelled as a marine band radio but with working frequencies of 27.5 to 39.475MHz FM and with receive on AM from 500KHz to 9999KHz it is another radio that seems interesting. Sure there is no SSB but interesting all the same. As we know Feitong also sell the FT-818 which covers all the amateur bands and comes unlocked transmit. So another brand here to keep an eye on

A little late here and costing some $150 including shipping ( Roughly 124 euro or £96) from the far east (excludes import duties and taxes EU) comes the Pofung 9500 which offers 400-470MHz coverage with 50/25 and 10w power with 199 memory channels and more importantly for the PMR men and ladies has the 6.25KHz step.

bf-9500

Some readers of the blog from the UK have informed me that there has been some confiscations and indeed other related matters with running amateur radio on 446MHz so of course we do not, and would never recommend it as it is not big and not clever. Same as running 5w and other radios on 446MHz the same.

What’s Next For CRE? Hm or Alinco?

$
0
0

It is the end of the year so it’s possibly the last article about a radio that needs changes (if it does) and what changes are needed (if they are) and what can be the advanced if there was a chance or indeed the inspiration from Univercom and Alinco who sold the radio

images

So I think we all agree the basis of the radio is a good one in many ways. Pre V3.0 well it is like all Qixiang it is “special” shall we say, but in V3.1 most of the errors are sort of killed off. So what could you change on what is quite a good board on the whole.

SSB Power raise it to 35-40w (firmware lock it so the screwdriver geniuses from google cannot change it) Add a little larger heat sink

FM Power keep at the same level and also AM Power leave it as is.

Controversially: I would use a Uniden DMC520 mike as standard on it, drives the radio well almost sadelta like and not too much bass and treble. The supplied mike is cheap, lacks anything special so you almost sure need a new mike to get good reports.

Controversial II: Change from 60 to 80 channels per band if cheap to do, if not release it as a multi EU radio for CB and hide the goodies with solder jumpers and wires and links to be opened and closed.

Firmware: Change it, top to bottom, left to right, A-Z it needs to be advanced as now it is old. No revisions of the radio, not anymore V3, V2, V4, V6 as it is a crazy idea as everyone will wait. Make it, call it 8900 mk2 and not tell anyone what changes, but make the changes under the hood and job done. Reduce it to 2 colours for the screen, backlight the buttons etc and leave as is.

Some radios had a weird quirk that when you press 10KHz it jumped 20KHz. So, channel 18 press 10KHz and 19A appeared on screen.

VFO: Yes sir. Like the Lincoln II and the Stryker or indeed the Optima from the Yeti’s I would add this

PC Programming: Needs simple tweaks top to bottom to make it better, add the menu from AT6666 so can adjust the s meter when needed

Service Mode: Too many emails from people who messed up stuff, deleted stuff, generally thought and used google for modification ideas. Hide It from key press and add it like in a “expert mode” Where hardware is needed also, maybe via the USB or via the mike socket and not release it.

Colour: Photo shop was fun with silver so why not try it in silver. Strykker looked blingy

Split: Yes I would add this if sold as a 10m radio, and hidden in the menu if was multi EU radio

S-Meter: Take away the digital and add a digital analogue with an s meter socket on the back.

Need the software still for your 8900? http://www.cre8900.com/index.php

Article just for curiosity and if you want to add stuff to it, go for it….

Dave & Steven from the UK asked me to name what I have in the shack at the moment, so why not.. End of year here goes

Team Mobile Mini Com & President Grant II & Team Ham MobileCom 1011 (Using a Modified AT6666 Mike) & Sadelta of various creeds
